Muppet Monday

Since it's my birthday this weekend, here is a birthday song from the 32nd season of Sesame Street (1993, the year I turned 17). It's called "Happy Birthday to Me," and it's composed by the great Jeff Moss with lyrics by Emily Perl Kingsley. I have to say, since I'm turning 40 this year, Maria's way of celebrating sounds the most appealing to me...

Last week the community of my alma mater Occidental College lost one of its most beloved figures. Dr. Richard Grayson, Professor of Music was renowned for early championing of electronic music and his rare skills in the field of classical improvisation. A highlight of the academic year was his annual concert where he showcased his accomplishment in both these fields. He would take requests from audience to take a popular tune and improv off of it in the a classical style. I thought you would enjoy this. The Muppet Theme in the style of a Bach fugue. Further delights can be found on youtube.

Thank you for linking that! I've barely been home all week and wanted to save that for when I finally was done with various things, and that was just so pleasant and fun to listen to. Just lovely. Now I'm going to listen to the Darth Vader/Beethoven video and probably spend the rest of the afternoon on this.
