Muppet Monday

You guys know I love Muppet commercials. Since I've been neglecting this blog so much, here are a number of them, all from 1965.

This ad is for Aurora Bath Tissue. I don't know who the voice is, but the hand is actually Jim Henson's.

This is a neat ad for Cloverland Dairy. Jim's experimenting with Chroma key backgrounds with this one. Like on Sam and Friends, this was performed to a pre-recorded track.

For McGarry's Sausage, Kermit the Frog and Mack had a relationship recalling Wilkins and Wontkins, with Mack pushing delicious meat on Kermit in violent ways. This is the only ad I could find, but there were 11 in total. They were all produced in 1964 and ran about 10 seconds each. They aired from 1965 to 1968.

This is one of sixteen commercials for Southern Bread that feature a Southern Colonel doing uncharacteristic things for some Southern Bread. I wish there was more than just one of these available. These commercials are generally thought to be the first time a Muppet was filmed on location.

And lastly, here are three ads for C&P Telephone Co. of Va. featuring Mack (again) and Suzy. There 10 of these, and Jim Henson is recycling Wilkins and Wontkins again, but they're fun. (And Big V makes an appearance in one.)
