TV Report: New Girl

I hated every grating, cliched, ridiculous, "Gosh golly, ain't this show cute?" second of New Girl.

If the universe developed consciousness and, in a fit of cruel pique, told me I had to watch another episode of New Girl or gradually saw off my big toe with a nail file, I'd learn to live with the limp.

That is all.

Your bitterness is a sweet to me as a fine wine.

You only like it because she wore overalls in that one scene, didn't you?

I won't lie, that didn't hurt the cause! But I liked the quirkiness, I loved Zooey's character, it made me laugh a number of times (the "douchebag jar" cracked me up), and the other characters have potential. I'm hoping it gets more confident as it moves past the "pilot" phase. I was looking forward to this show as soon as I saw promos for it, and it wasn't until a month or so later that one of those promos featured the overalls scene, so that is NOT the deciding factor!

(But really, she looked frakking adorable in them. I hope they don't disappear from her wardrobe...which reminds me, I hate it when shows give their characters new clothes all the time. It always helps the realism when shows have characters wearing the same things time and again. Hell, I have shirts that are well over ten years old that I still wear.)

(Note to self: buy new shirts.)
