I just learned that Art Clokey, creator of Gumby and Davey & Goliath, and thus a large influence on me as a kid, died this morning at the age of 89. This news makes me sad.

That is sad news, and coming just a few months after the death of Dal MacKennon, who was the voice of Gumby.
I have a close friend who is a special effects artist, you know his work from STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE, STAR TREK: VOYAGER (He was one of the designers of the Voyager ship on ST:V), the original V, THE FLASH, so much else. He began his career working for Art Clokey. Always spoke highly of Clokey, who took a chance on an animator barely out of college.
D & G utterly fascinated me.
