Another Monkees song written by Harry Nilsson. This is from 1967. I heard a rumor once that this song was about a girl that got gang-raped by Hell's Angels. I can't imagine that's actually true, but it sure is disturbing. I don't know what episode of The Monkees this is from.

Love this song - you can really understand why both Lennon and McCartney were his biggest fans.
I've heard this same urban legend. I wonder....
There's another clip with Davey dancing with a woman on stage with the rest of the band in the wings with some goofy sound effects here & there. However the dancing is really groovy!

I've heard that urban legend also. I doubt it's true. I think the dark subtext of a sexual plaything may have something to do with it.
