I'm still not sure how the designs for the Transformers movie can continue to disappoint me when a) I'm have no expectations except for them to be bad, b) I have no interest and don't really care, c) I'm not going to see the fucking thing, and d) I think making a live action movie out of Transformers is pretty damn stupid.

I'm not sure how this:
Gets turned into this:

But I can say one thing. That is damn unpleasant to look at. Posted by Picasa

I remember how disappointed you were when you first posted about this. I have to agree with you that it is damn unpleasant to look at. The face/mask sort of reminds me of a metal Predator on crack or something. Definitely reminds me of Predator for some reason.

I can see that, plus a couple of over things (the Guyver, Gundam, etc). Wouldn't be a Michael Bay movie without ripping anything off, though.

That's one ugly robot. It has a face like a robot's arse.

I'm going to steal that line from you. That describes it perfectly.

after seeing it for the hundredth time, it kinda starts to look okay. it's suppose to be alien technology, so it looks alien to us.

the cartoon version looked like what a humanoid robot would look like if humans designed it.

and if they had just translated the cartoon version in to 3D, it would look ridiculous.

Alien technology or whatever, it's still designed by a person with a lousy aesthetic. Giger designs alien technology too, but at least you can look at it without wanting to vomit.

"and if they had just translated the cartoon version in to 3D, it would look ridiculous."

It's going to be ridiculous either way; you're probably wasting your time apologizing for it.
